The Crane Demon in Hindu mythology devoured anyone who entered from another land. Krishna let himself get eaten just to rip the demon apart from the inside, but now we just feed the crane our own without him even asking.

inspired by a mad-lib when I asked someone I love to offer me an adjective, a noun, an adverb, and a verb. “Golden, Lemur, Gently, Running,” he said, and I took that along with what he’s taught me about living without fear of the uncertain future, living instinctively for love.
